
This concert has been organised to raise enough money to pay for two second-hand ambulances to be bought and sent to Ukraine.
The line-up is superb, featuring some of the very best choirs in the South West, some great solo performances, and an appearance by Sir Michael Morpurgo who has written a special story about a Ukrainian girl who makes her way to the UK. He will read this at the concert.
Sir Michael Morpurgo
Michael Morpurgo is one of the most popular and acclaimed authors of children's books in the UK. He has written over 150 books, including War Horse, Private Peaceful, and Kensuke's Kingdom. He readily agreed to join us to help raise the money for the two emergency vehicles to go to Ukraine.
Adrian Wilton
Our compere for the evening. Adrian is well-known throughout the region for his humorous compering skills. He will make sure you have a wonderful evening.
Cornwall County Youth Choir
This choir has recently won gold medals at an international competition in Hull. They have a superb reputation and are led by some of the best musical directors in Cornwall.
NoteAbility and Carclaze Voices
These choirs have been rehearsing and performing throughout Cornwall for 11 years, both led by Matt Douglas. Over the years, they have helped raise over £23,000 for various good causes in Cornwall and throughout the world.
Canoryon Lowen
Led by the very talented Nick Hart, this choir has gained a superb reputation for their brilliant harmonies and their ability to entertain. We are very grateful that they have agreed to join us for this special event.
Ukrainian Harmony Choir
Created in the St Austell area in Cornwall to help the newly arrived refugees find community and hope through music and song. Their reputation led to them being selected to perform at Everton Football Ground to sing at the Match for Peace. They sing traditional Ukrainian music with passion and love.
Nicole Medin
Nicole is a young soloist of Ukrainian heritage, she has performed in Bath Abbey, at live concerts and rallies in support of Ukraine throughout the country. She is passionate about her Ukrainian songs and brings colour and excitement to the evening.
James Anderson-Besant
James is the director of music at Truro Cathedral. He will be playing Toccata on ‘Vom Himmel hoch’ by Garth Edmudsen – pulling out all the stops for this impressive recital.
Sofia Purei
Sofia is a 12-year-old Ukrainian girl who is a very talented pianist. Her short recital will amaze you!
Ukrainian artwork and cake will be on display for sale. There will be a bar at the Cathedral. The concert starts at 7pm – doors open at 6pm.
Performers can opt for full price (£15) half-price (£7.50) or free tickets.
